We’re excited to be launching the Fall season of the Thrive Community Choir!
If you love to sing, if you’ve been inspired by the Thrive Choir and want to sing in an ensemble, if you want more Thrive songs in your life...join the Thrive Community Choir for its second season.
The Thrive Community Choir is creating a world of love and belonging through the power of singing. Participating in the choir is an opportunity to:
- Be in deeper community with Thrive members & kindred folk
- Explore your singing voice as a reflection and expression of yourself
- Connect and contribute to an accepting and non-judgemental space
- Improve your vocal technique and musical knowledge
- Learn and improve your singing in harmony
- Give voice to the songs and messages our world is craving
- Keep the vocal traditions alive
- Offer songs in service of our community and your wellbeing
We’ll be singing a collection of songs in 3 and 4 part harmony. Some will be community songs you may remember from Thrive Sundays, some will be new arrangements made specifically for our choir, and some will come from songs you suggest and love.
The Thrive Community Choir will collaborate with the Thrive Choir but is a separate ensemble. The only audition is passion and commitment. All are welcome.
We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about singing and who can commit to attending at least 75% of the rehearsal dates.
Rehearsals will take place on Thursday from 7pm - 9pm on the following dates:
8/22, 8/29, 9/5, 9/12, 9/19, 9/26, 10/3, 10/10, 10/17, 10/24, 10/31, 11/7, 11/14, 11/21, 12/5, 12/12
We will be singing at the Nov 3rd Thrive Sunday from 4 - 6pm and we will have a culminating performance on the night of Friday Dec 13th.
The Fireplace Room @ First Church of Christ, Scientist
2619 Dwight Way
Berkeley, CA 94704
To help cover the costs of this group, there is a sliding scale fee of $175 - $250 including all rehearsals and the final performance. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. If you would like to participate at a reduced amount or monthly installments, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Thrive Community Choir is being directed by Stevie Greenwell with occasional guest teaching by other members of the Thrive Choir and community song leaders.
Stevie Greenwell is a musician, educator, and mentor working around the bay area. She works to connect people to their voice both musically and emotionally. Stevie believes everyone has the right to sing and that the voice can be a tool of reflection and expression to help us learn who we are and what we want to express to the world. Stevie performs with the Thrive Choir, Jazz Mafia Choral Syndicate and with various artists and ensembles. She works with schools, community choirs and music camps around the Bay and was previously the Director of Vocal Studies at Marin School of the Arts.
